Our Ocean Conference 2018, Bali, Indonesia
On 29th and 30th October, Our Ocean Conference 2018 was held in Bali, Indonesia, an event which has gathered many high-level government officials and representatives from various organizations dealing with the ocean protection and preservation. On behalf of WhiteFlag International and OACM, the conference was attended by Mr. Kristijan Curavić, OACM President, and Mr. Steve Abela, Vice President of WhiteFlag International.
During the Ocean Talk held by WhiteFlag International, Mr. Kristijan Curavić, OACM President has presented the White Flag Self-Sustainable Ocean Cleaning System (SSOCS) and has presented the Republic of Seychelles, together with H.E. Vincent Meriton, Vice President of Seychelles, as the newest member of OACM group. The promotional video of Seychelles - made during the visit of WhiteFlag International team to this beautiful country - was premiered during the Ocean Talk, and it has shown one of the world's most beautiful beaches - now cleaned of all plastic and other marine debris! During the conference, H.E. Karmenu Vella, EU Commissioner for Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has once more demonstrated his full support to the White Flag initiative, and all the concrete measures and efforts taken for fighting the plastic pollution problem.
Our network was widely expanded, as WhiteFlag representatives established communication and exchanged contacts with numerous high-level officials and world leaders. Mr. Curavić and Mr. Peter Thomson, UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for the Oceans, discussed the engagement of the UN at the first OACM Plastic Ocean Summit which is scheduled for March 2019. White Flag initiative was also introduced to Mr. John Kerry, former United States Secretary of State, with whom future development of the WhiteFlag International will be communicated.
The Our Ocean Conference 2018 was an enormous success, where WhiteFlag International has established contacts with the government officials of Panama, Australia, New Caledonia, Sri Lanka, Chile, Marshall Islands, Fiji, Morocco, Mauritius, Germany, Oman, Netherlands, Japan, and many other countries.
The next Our Ocean Conference will be hosted in Oslo, Norway, where WhiteFlag International will present itself on a larger scale, as the certification of Norway's seabed with the White Flag is in the process.
The entire world is working together to be a part of the most concrete solution for plastic pollution, by providing a sustainable future for both human and aquatic life on this planet.
