Eco-action on Krapanj

The new way of eco-actions

The new equipment now allows each SPEED UNIT diver to stay underwater for a longer time. The system of removing the waste is now more efficient and safer for divers. Divers no longer need to come to the surface several times during the dive. In addition to the system that was dangerous for the divers because of the effect of microbubbles in the bloodstream and otitis media due to frequent changes in pressure from 1 to 10 meters where the biggest difference in pressure, it was also slowing down the process of removing waste.

Each diver is now equipped with a special balloon that binds collected waste and when it’s filled, the diver sends it to the surface. This way, the diver is constantly under water. This system requires greater logistical support on the surface when removing waste on land or a ship.

All divers are equipped with the latest models of a GoPro camera. The camera is located at the top of scuba tanks and is filming the whole eco-action. This video material can be used to record the classification of waste.

In just two days, more than 6 tons of large and small waste was removed in eco-action on the island of Krapanj, in Croatia. Most wastes were plastic and glass bottles, as well as a lot of building materials.
